Airsensis Plus launches in Athens Metro

The implementation of the innovative AirSensis Plus system for monitoring air quality in indoor and outdoor areas of major urban infrastructures has begun!

MSENSIS, the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos,” and the Urban Rail Transport S.A are proceeding with the installation of the advanced IoT systems of the AirSensis Plus program at Syntagma and Ethniki Amyna metro stations.

What does this mean?

  • Low-cost sensors and certified accuracy and reliability data: The low cost of the systems allows for the development of a dense sensor network, while the accuracy of the provided data is certified through laboratory tests, field measurements, and periodic system checks with a specially developed calibration unit.
  • More pollutants, better representation of environmental conditions: A multitude of sensors record with high time resolution airborne particles (PM2.5), carbon dioxide (CO2), ozone (O3), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and basic environmental conditions (humidity, temperature, ultraviolet radiation) in indoor and outdoor spaces.
  • Energy autonomy and speed: The systems have energy autonomy and utilize the 5G network for fast and efficient data transmission.
  • Personalized information: The information is converted into understandable qualitative and quantitative indicators and informative messages.

With AirSensis Plus, we are taking a significant step towards improving air quality in indoor and outdoor spaces, enhancing urban resilience, and providing timely and accessible information to citizens for the protection of public health.
